Where it began
THIS IS WHERE BTS STARTED.
Before Bracket the Silence was an organization, it was a March Madness fundraiser.
After my dad, John, died by suicide in 2023, I wanted to create something that felt like him. He loved games. He had the best laugh. And he never shied away from a bet.
So we started with a bracket. People filled it out. We competed. We laughed. We raised money for suicide prevention. And somewhere inside something as ordinary as March Madness, something bigger started to take shape.

What began as one tournament in his memory became Bracket the Silence. That is why this bracket will always be different. It is not just one of our events. It is the one that started everything.
The bracket started with basketball. Now it holds a lot more.

THE SILENCE SHATTERER
Some trophies mean more than where you finished.
Every year, the March Madness champion earns a permanent place on the Silence Shatterer Trophy. Their name is added beside every champion who came before them — part competition, part tradition, and part reminder of where Bracket the Silence began.
The trophy stays with BTS, so its story can keep growing. Once the winner’s nameplate is added, they’ll receive a photo of their place on the trophy to save, share, and prove that — for one year — the bracket belonged to them.
